About Paul Cuadrado

Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana I was a professional English teacher all of my adult life (1978-2018).

For almost two decades, I successfully taught in private schools in the New Orleans area. Yet my desire to travel, teach overseas, and experience other cultures burned within me.

When I turned 40, I decided that it was time to do it: a now or never attitude.

Beginning then, I taught throughout the Middle East, Asia, and back in the US during a five year hiatus from international teaching.

In my 40 year career, I taught IB, AP, IGCSE and IELTS as well as several standardized test prep courses. I taught students at every level: both native and ESL students. Although I taught ESL classes, I am not completely confident nor certified to do so. I am better qualified to teach/tutor more advanced students in literary analysis and writing.

Most importantly, I teach my students life, instilling in them a love of learning and the confidence to pursue knowledge successfully.

I achieve a lifelong rapport with my students, and they often become my friends as they mature. I still communicate with ex-students each week via Internet. Some relationships date back more than three decades. It is no exaggeration to state that my ex-student friends span the globe.

In extracurriculars, I led or assisted in virtually every aspect of secondary education. I served as acting head of school and principal; led accreditation committees; rewrote English curriculum plans from grades 5-12; coached swimming and archery. I was drama tech director; forensics and drama coach; led yearbook, photography and newspaper; school-wide “Green Team Leader”: recycling, composting, and gardening; and led overseas week-long field trips.

Succinctly, if it is remotely related to teaching English, “Been there, done that.”

Upon retiring from the classroom, I realized that I still wanted to teach and established Global English to continue my worldwide personal teaching/tutoring online.
